Creative Response
I have chosen to make a short video of my airbrush in action as I felt this would be the best way to showcase the true nature of the object. The ability of the airbrush to quickly render an image onto a canvas is marvelous and is far quicker than any paintbrush or drawing processes could ever be.
The airbrush takes a small amount of ink and then mixes this with compressed air to produce an atomised ink spray that travel at a high velocity from the airbrush to the canvas. This allows so much flexibility in the creation process in regards to focal value and colour blending.
There is a freedom when painting with an airbrush; it is easy to lose yourself in the process only to see the hours have gone by in the blink of an eye. I enjoy airbrushing more than anything else, and if I could make a living from it, well; I would just airbrush.
The portrait in the creative response video was painted extremely quickly, quicker than my painting ability, as I could not put up a 30 minute video and expect you to watch it. With a bit more time and care this portrait could have been far better. I hope you enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed painting it for you.
